West End Heroes, Dominion Theatre on Sunday 28th September.

West End Heroes has smashed its own box office record, raising over £100,000 for Help For Heroes. And with further donations still to count, the final figure is likely to be much higher.

West End Heroes Producer and the Dominion Theatre’s General Manager, David Pearson, said: “This has been a massive achievement in only our second year. I want to thank everyone involved in what was a colossal undertaking – there were 200 people performing on stage and a small army behind the scenes, most who worked for nothing on their day off.”

Staged in the newly refurbished Dominion Theatre and hosted by Michael Ball, West End Heroes united the casts of many of the biggest West End musicals, including Miss Saigon, Evita and White Christmas, with West End soloists and dancers and the finest UK military bands and musicians in a dazzling showcase of showstopping numbers, unlikely song mash-ups and stunning choreography and precision drilling.

“We sincerely hope that West End Heroes continues as an annual event,” says Pearson. “but that very much depends on the ongoing support of the military, West End producers and artists, and the availability of the theatre. However, two things are certain: the public seem to want it and Help for Heroes are always going to need support to carry on their incredible work supporting and rehabilitating servicemen.”

A huge thank you to everyone involved in this year’s production. Michael Ball, the cast, the bands, the production team, the Dominion Theatre staff, all our sponsors and to everyone who bought tickets or donated, each and every one of you helped make West End Heroes 2014 a resounding success.

HELP for HEROES

Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and four Personnel Recovery Centres across the UK. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won’t let them battle alone.

 Help for Heroes Andy Grant

“Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and West End Heroes is a wonderful example of people coming together to raise money for a worthwhile cause. Because of events like this and people like you raising money, we are able to provide practical, direct support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries as a result of their service. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated; the war may be ending, but for these brave wounded the battle will have only just begun. We need to be there to support them for life, and that support needs to be the best. I would like to say thank you for this and every other fund raising event that it inspires.”

Bryn Parry, CEO and Co-Founder of Help for Heroes
